Job Purpose and Objectives
Background information
The Nantwich Methodist Community Church runs a range of groups and one of these is Drop ‘n’ Shop, an inclusive childcare facility for Primary School aged children.
Drop ‘n’ Shop currently runs first and third Saturdays of each month from 10 – 12 noon and is aimed at Primary School aged children. Once the post holders are in post, and we have enough volunteers recruited, this is planned to increase to every and you will be given the opportunity of working every Saturday (apart from those which are part of your Annual Leave). Parents/carers drop off their children from 10am and collect at 12 noon for a £2.50 fee. Please note, apart from these two posts, all workers are volunteers, including the manager.
Job purpose and objectives:
• To set up ready for each session, plan, lead and facilitate an inclusive drop-in play session for primary school aged children, every Saturday from 10 – 12
• To ensure that all children feel safe and secure while attending
• To ensure all children have equality of access
• To facilitate use of the sensory room by all children as and when needed
• To ensure a team leader OR Drop n Shop Manager/Deputy Manager is always in the main room
• To ensure effective use of volunteers on a rota

| Main Responsibilities |
This details what actually needs to be done, i.e. the duties and expected outcomes.
Liaise with volunteers who manage the Drop ‘n’ Shop social media accounts and the website to ensure they are provided with up to date information on planned programme of activities, and photographs of completed activities (ensure no children are on any photos are videos) Set up the main hall and sensory room to be completed prior to any children arriving at 10am Ensure there is a range of resources, including arts and crafts for each session Continue to develop highly inclusive sessions for primary school age children enabling all children to feel safe and secure and to feel fully included Liaise with Drop ‘n’ Shop Manager if further funding bids are needed Liaise with parents/carers to ensure all needs of attending children are met Signpost families to other services Ensure safeguarding is always in place, Privacy Policy is followed and risk assessment reviewed as and when agreed with Manager of Drop ‘n’ Shop Support the overall vision of an open and inclusive community centre, with respect for all Keep adequate records of attendees and up to date parental /carer contact details and any allergies or SEND needs Regular appraisal and reviews with line manager Any other duties and responsibilities, identified by the Line Manager as are within your capabilities and level of responsibility, in order to meet the needs of the project.

Terms of appointment: Fixed Term for the duration of the funding The salary/rate of pay will be: £16 per hour for hours agreed with Drop n Shop Manager prior to working and as per normal working pattern below Normal working pattern: 9.15 – 12.30 (this includes setting up, both main hall and sensory room, & clearing up at the end of the session). The sessions are free flow play and planning can be done half termly a total of 0.5 hours per month will be allowed for this, with an additional one hour per month for admin and one hour per month for supervision for probationary period, quarterly thereafter). Giving a total of 3 additional flexible hours per month, of three for the first 6 months There is a contributory pension scheme to which eligible employees will be auto-enrolled 28 days annual leave entitlement per year pro-rata (Please note Drop n Shop runs every Saturday throughout the year unless this falls on Christmas Day) – all leave to be agreed with Drop n Shop line manager Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) disclosure Appointment will be subject to satisfactory references Appointment will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a three-month probationary period Opportunities for training Note you will not be expected to use a car for this job

The Employee will have a Line Manager whose responsibilities will be to: Support the Employee and ensure any reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act 2010 are agreed with Employee and actioned by agreed deadline Support Employee in 1:1s to identify and agree priorities for the work, areas for development and review well being (meetings to take place monthly during the probationary period and quarterly thereafter) Ensure good communications between all the ‘stakeholders’ e.g. Church Council; Minister and safeguarding lead Regularly report to Church Council and Circuit meetings as required to feed back on behalf of team leaders
