As we mark Trustees’ Week 2025 (3rd–7th November), it’s a great time to reflect on how we can strengthen our governance and celebrate the people who guide and support our work. Good governance is at the heart of every effective organisation; it’s about having the right people, policies and processes in place to make sound decisions, stay accountable, and achieve your mission with confidence.
At CVS, we’re committed to helping local groups strengthen their governance. We’re pleased to offer a range of upcoming learning opportunities designed to support strong governance and inclusive practice. You can see our full training programme here. We also offer private training on request, delivered at a time and venue of your choice – just email helen.roger@cvsce.org.uk to find out more.
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Training – Thursday 30th October, 10am–12pm on Zoom
Introduction to Trustee Roles and Responsibilities – Available anytime as eLearning
Neurodiversity in the Workplace – Tuesday 25th November, 12:00pm-2pm on Zoom (free session)
We also have a dedicated Governance webpage – giving you an overview of good governance, useful links and downloadable templates for your organisation to adapt. Check out our new Governance Policy Tick list – a practical tool to help ensure that your organisation has the key policies in place.
The National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) also offers a wide range of guidance, resources, and trustee training to help organisations strengthen their governance. They are also hosting a free online event on Governance trends 2025: what’s changing and why it matters on 4th November – join them to discover what’s shaping charity governance in 2025. The latest report from NCVO, Governance in Focus is available ahead of the event.
Together, good governance and active trusteeship keep your organisation effective, transparent, and ready for the future.
