Schroder Charity Trust

The Schroder Charity Trust has a proud history of supporting the UK charity sector for over 70 years.Members of the Schroder family have served as Directors throughout our history and today the Schroder Charity Trust is served by three generations of the family on the Board.

The Schroder Charity Trust generally makes grants of up to £5,000. We receive between 400-500 applications each year and approximately 100 charities receive grants, meaning there is a 1 in 5 success rate (i.e. of every 5 applications we receive, 1 will receive funding). We fund both core costs and specific projects, but not large capital appeals. Grants are usually for a one-year period, rather than over multiple years.

The Schroder Charity Trust accepts applications towards two focussed grant programmes in two application windows each year. 

WHAT WE SUPPORT

Following a strategic review of the Schroder Charity Trust’s grant-making in 2024-25, we only consider applications for charitable work under the following two objectives: 

Objective (1): Enabling children and young adults from disadvantaged backgrounds to thrive and achieve their potential in education and employment. 

Objective (2): Strengthening communities through services and opportunities which enhance the wellbeing and life outcomes of vulnerable and disadvantaged people.
