Objectives of Fund

The funding is intended to mitigate the digital divide by making computing facilities, support and learning available to disadvantaged and vulnerable people. It aims to support people and communities as well as the natural environment within the UK.

Value Notes

Grants of between £20,000 and £50,000 are available for projects lasting up to one year. In exceptional cases, the Foundation may consider supporting a longer running multi-year project.

Who Can Apply

Applications may only be made by 'bona fide' charities and not-for-profit organisations.

Applicants that are not registered with the Charity Commission in England and Wales, the Scottish Charity Register or the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland must provide the following information:

· Their country of tax residency.

· Their registration number with the relevant tax authority (and the registration number with any other regulator).

· Details of any tax exemptions because of charitable or not for profit status.

Restrictions

The following are not eligible for funding:

· Individuals

· Community Interest Companies (CICs) and other not-for-profit organisations within the UK who are not registered with the Charity Commission.

· General running costs or overheads

· Religious organisations or religious activity

· Charities whose aim is to support animals

· Political activity (eg lobbying government or campaigning for a change in law)

· Education institutions unless they are 100% for Special Educational Needs (SEN).

Eligible Expenditure

Grants are given on a restricted basis, for specific services, activities, initiatives or projects with clearly identified and measurable outcomes.

The first step is to register on the funder's application portal.

There are no deadlines for applications. The Foundation aims to notify applicants a decision within 16 weeks of receipt of application, though 'it could be much sooner'.
