Aoife's Volunteering Story

Aoife, one of our amazing Development Officers at CVS is also a dedicated volunteer for the Macclesfield Hockey Club and can attest to the countless benefits that come with giving your time and effort to a cause you care about.

Aoife has been involved with Macclesfield Hockey Club for 14 years, and currently serves as the captain of two teams and Honorary Club Secretary. She recognizes the impact that the club has had on her life and the lives of its members, and is passionate about giving back in any way she can.

Being part of a team has been a particularly rewarding aspect of Aoife's volunteer work. She explains, "There is a wide range of ages, which is fabulous socially, and the club is very inclusive. We are not a very big club – approx. 220 members – but certainly most senior players know each other." The sense of community and camaraderie that comes with volunteering for a group or organization is invaluable, and can provide a much-needed sense of belonging and purpose.

In addition to the social benefits, volunteering can also be personally fulfilling and rewarding. Aoife states, "If you have free time and can find something you enjoy doing, it’s really worthwhile." By finding a cause or activity, that you are passionate about, you can make a positive impact on the world while also gaining a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment.

Ultimately, Aoife encourages everyone to consider volunteering in their own communities. "There are so many community groups out there who need a few hours of someone’s time and you get the chance to see what’s going on in your community," she says.

By giving your time and energy to a cause you care about, you can make a real difference in the world and create positive change in your community. So why not try it and start volunteering today?
