We provide a variety of free and low cost training courses on a wide range of subjects to support both staff and volunteers in the Voluntary, Community & Faith sector in Cheshire East. To learn more about each course or to book a place on line, please click on the relevant session link below.

Each of our CVS training sessions will be marked with one of the below badges as a reference for members working towards GRIPP Assurance or working to a bespoke GRIPP support plan, created following completion of the GRIPP Checklist.
 


Advanced Grant Writing (2-part session) - Monday 19th and Monday 26th September, 2pm-4pm on Zoom - Mon, 19/09/2022 - 14:00

This course is spread over two 2-hour sessions, each covering a different aspect of advanced bid writing. The training will help you to target and develop your bids to maximise chances of funding success.

Mental Health Awareness - Tuesday 20th September, 1:00pm-2:30pm, Zoom - Tue, 20/09/2022 - 13:00

Mental health has always been important, but working in the charity sector it is critical to look after your wellbeing to enable you to help others and respond to mental health issues. This short session will consider mental health triggers and symptoms, how to respond in a crisis, how to build a positive culture of support, and empower you to build resilience and recognise when others may need help.

Volunteers and the Law (2-part course) - Tuesday 4th and Tuesday 11th October, 7pm-9pm, Zoom - Tue, 04/10/2022 - 19:00

Do you know your legal responsibilities to your volunteers? This 2-part course will help you understand legislation, volunteer agreements, how to avoid risk, and gain awareness of the common pitfalls facing volunteering for organisations.

Boundaries - Thursday 20th October, 1pm-3pm, Zoom - Thu, 20/10/2022 - 13:00

It is difficult for staff, and especially for volunteers to know what boundaries should exist between them and service users, and what to do if these are being broken. This training will look at how staff and volunteer maintain professional boundaries with service users.

Introduction to Grant Applications - Thursday 3rd November, 7pm-9pm, Zoom - Thu, 03/11/2022 - 19:00

Ideal for community and voluntary organisations who are new to applying for grant funding. This session will take you through the crucial steps you need to take to help you ensure your organisation has the best chance of success with your grant bids.

Introduction to Volunteer Management - Tuesday 15th November, 3pm-5pm, Zoom - Tue, 15/11/2022 - 15:00

This 2 hour session is aimed at people who are new to managing volunteers or involving volunteers in their organisation. Is your organisation volunteer ready? Come along and find out more about how you can prepare your organisation to effectively involve volunteers.

Introduction to Trustee Roles and Responsibilities - Tuesday 29th November, 7pm-9pm, Zoom - Tue, 29/11/2022 - 19:00

This session is aimed at anyone who is considering becoming a Trustee for a charity or community group or new Trustees who would like to learn more. The training will provide an overview of the roles and responsibilities of a trustee of a small group or charity.

Introduction to Safeguarding - Tuesday 6th December, 2pm-4pm, Zoom - Tue, 06/12/2022 - 14:00

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. Do your staff, trustees and volunteers understand the basics of safeguarding? This session will ensure that you understand what your organisation needs to do to keep everyone involved safe.

Equality and Diversity - Tuesday 13th December, 10am-12pm, Zoom - Tue, 13/12/2022 - 10:00

This course is essential for community and voluntary groups to understand the requirements of the 2010 Equality Act and the accompanying ‘Public Sector Equality Duty’ (2011).
