Healthy Young Minds Alliance

Introduction

The Healthy Young Minds Alliance (HYMA) is a strategic, cross-sector partnership supporting improved outcomes for children and young people in Cheshire East. We unite professionals from education, health, social care, family help, and the community, voluntary, faith, and social enterprise (VCFSE) sector. Together, we work to ensure every child and young person can thrive—with access to the right advice and support when they need it.

Our vision, mission, and purpose guide everything we do—from strategic planning to everyday collaboration.

Vision
We work toward a connected and resilient system where every child and young person in Cheshire East can thrive—supported at the right time, in the right place, by the right people—with accessible support tailored to their needs.

Mission
We bring partners together with a unified commitment: to help every child and young person in Cheshire East thrive through timely, accessible support. We foster collaboration, shared learning, and strong cross-sector relationships to strengthen services and empower the voluntary sector to have an equal voice in shaping sustainable change.

Purpose
We facilitate collaboration to drive system-wide change—shifting the focus upstream to earlier, more proactive support that prevents issues from escalating. By empowering services to work together, we strengthen the system’s ability to respond early and inclusively. This collective effort ultimately improves outcomes for children and young people, helping them thrive with the right support, at the right time, from the right people.

Our work is guided by the following principles, which shape how we collaborate and create impact.

  1. Shared Purpose and Vision: Partners are aligned around a unified commitment to help every child and young person thrive through timely, accessible support.
  2. Mutual Benefit: Collaboration is built on shared value—leveraging resources, expertise, and relationships to achieve common goals.
  3. Trust and Transparency: Open communication and honest dialogue foster trust and accountability across the partnership.
  4. Measurable Outcomes: Decisions are guided by data and evidence, with clear metrics to track impact and reduce inequalities.
  5. Sustainability: We support long-term service models and funding pathways that enable consistent early intervention and enduring impact.
  6. Respect and Understanding: We create inclusive spaces where diverse perspectives—including lived experience—are valued and inform decision-making.
  7. Complementary Strengths: We co-create solutions with children, families, and professionals, drawing on the unique strengths of each partner.
  8. Effective Communication: Timely, clear, and consistent information sharing supports coordination and collective action.
  9. Shared Governance: Inclusive decision-making is supported by transparent governance structures and shared accountability.
  10. Flexibility and Adaptability: We respond to feedback and emerging needs through continuous learning and agile collaboration.
  11. Inclusivity: We actively remove barriers to participation and embed equity in all aspects of our work, ensuring all voices are heard and respected.
