Welcoming role at Macclesfield Hospital providing reassuring and practical support to patients and visitors who may be wheelchair users

Days and Times for the Opportunity: Friday AM

We are looking for individuals who will
• Approach patients and any other visitors upon arrival at the hospital
• Provide a friendly, polite and reassuring welcome
• Establish their required destination and answer enquiries where appropriate
• Signpost to required destination
• Unlock wheelchairs if required
• Support patients in and out of wheelchairs
• Escort patients to their destination – this may include pushing a patient using a wheelchair
• Respond to requests from wards to transport a patient using a wheelchair from the ward to main reception
• Volunteer must only leave the Welcome Desk to escort / transport a patient if there is another volunteer available to remain at the Welcome Desk
• Offer assistance to Main Reception queue if people are waiting

Skills and Qualifications Required:

Good communicators with a willingness to help and guide patients and visitors; ability to operate a wheelchair would be desirable.
Two references are taken from individuals who have known you for 3 years.

Travelling expenses @35p per mile up to 10 miles each way or public transport plus free car parking

The following are available: Statutory and Mandatory Training; Information Governance Training; and Specialist Manual Handling / Wheelchair Training
