Carers trust 4all are looking for Volunteer befrienders to help support unpaid carers in the local community.
Befriender volunteers will offer a friendly face and a listening ear. You will volunteer alongside the Care team to ensure carers can access the support they need to cope well with their caring role. This might include:
A weekly telephone call to check how things are going
A social visit either to the carers home or a meeting place in the community.
Accompanying a carer to a social activity or supporting them with a shared hobby
A good befriender should be a good listener, with a friendly, open manner and the ability to put people at ease. Patience and an understanding of the challenges faced by carers is also important.
Our Volunteer befrienders are given an induction and training will be given on starting the role. Opportunities for further training will be given as required.
Each volunteer will be appointed a staff contact who is responsible for general welfare and regular one-to-one meetings, so we can ensure you have the best possible volunteering experience.
Full training and induction, including confidentiality, safeguarding, first aid, food hygiene.
