Mental health has always been important, but working in the charity sector it is critical to look after your wellbeing to enable you to help others and respond to mental health issues. This short session will consider mental health triggers and symptoms, how to respond in a crisis, how to build a positive culture of support, and empower you to build resilience and recognise when others may need help.

Mental Health Awareness
Wednesday 21st September, 1:00pm-2:30pm
Virtual Training

1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem of some kind each year in the UK. Especially working in the charity and voluntary sector, we can often feel we can’t talk about our own issues because we’re so focused on helping others. This 1.5 hour session is designed to ensure you are aware of mental health issues and triggers, help you build resilience to deal with challenges in mental health, and recognise when others need support.

Who’s it for:
Staff, volunteers, trustees and others supporting a VCFS organisation in Cheshire East.

This session will cover:

  • Introduction to mental health
  • Understanding of common mental health problems
  • Stigma and how it impacts treatment
  • Poor mental health triggers
  • Working with vulnerable people
  • Dealing with mental health problems at work
  • How to respond in a crisis
  • Managing your mental health
  • Well-being and self-care
  • Signposts to other help and information
