Bridgend Buddies is a befriending service providing one to one support and companionship.

Helping to combat loneliness and social isolation, you will be supported to provide one to one support, a dedicated project worker will match you to an individual who will benefit from your companionship and help you to build a meaningful relationship, this may include accompanying the individual to an activity or event, going out for lunch, shopping or to other appointments.

Skills and Qualifications Required:

To be a Bridgend Buddy you must be patient and understanding, to be able to provide non judgemental support to an individual who is feeling lonely and isolated.

No formal qualifications are required.

If yes, for what and at what rate?:

Travel expenses are paid and it is possible to claim the cost of attending a certain activity, each case is different so expenses will be discussed once a match is made.

What support is available for the volunteer?:

Bridgend Buddies is an established support service of the Bridgend Centre. We have a dedicated project worker who will work with volunteers throughout the course of their volunteering role.

What training is available for the volunteer?:

We provide safeguarding training to our volunteers and if necessary first aid training can be also be provided.
