Disability positive is looking for volunteers to support the befriending part of the service, which aims to reduce isolation by offering individually tailored support.
Volunteers Befrienders will provide the service to Disability Positive clients, this could be via telephone or face to face, and will be personalised to meet the client’s needs, for example, this could involve access the community or with a hobby, a regular coffee and catch up or a weekly phone call. We will aim to match befrienders with clients with common interests or personality types.
Volunteers should have good listening and communication skills, the ability to form a positive and supportive relationships while maintaining boundaries, be reliable and dependable, be empathetic and non-judgemental.
