Green Gyms are fun and free outdoor sessions for all abilities, involving conservation, wellbeing and nature-based activities. Their aim is to improve health and wellbeing, while forming new social connections.
This volunteering role will help maintain and develop the environment at Hassall Green Nature Reserve whilst benefitting the volunteers wellbeing through physical activity, social connections and spending time in the natural environment.
A range of conservation and other nature based wellbeing activities will be available. This could include:
- woodland management
- nature walks with species identification
- wildflower planting and seed collection
- drystone wall building
- woodland crafts such as willow weaving
- path clearance
- building bug hotels
Sessions run fortnightly from 10.30am until 1.30pm. Booking is essential for this opportunity and transport to the site maybe possible from a designated pick up site.
Enjoy the outdoors and the natural environment.
The activities are led by a trained member of staff.
The nature of the volunteering will teach volunteers conservation skills. There is also an opportunity for volunteers to be trained to be TCV Volunteer Officers which allows them to have additional responsibilities during sessions and assist on other TCV activities. Training for this includes health and safety and safeguarding.
