Membership Secretary:
Manage the membership list of the East Cheshire National Trust Association. Liaise with members over their annual membership and with people seeking to join the association.
Attendance at Committee meetings - c 6 per year.
Help the Committee to develop and deliver its programme offer to its members and by this to promote and support the work and aims of the National Trust.

Committee Members:
People undertaking this role would be providing general support to the East Cheshire National Trust Association and its members. They might take on a specific project for example, liaison with a local National Trust property such as Lyme or Quarry Bank; help to run an outing; organise a Christmas lunch etc. They would attend Committee meetings.

The function of the East Cheshire National Trust Association is to support the work of the National Trust by delivering a programme of activities for its members: Talks, Outings, Walks and Holidays in the Stockport and East Cheshire area.

These openings would suit a retired person who is perhaps looking for social contact and is interested in the National Trust: they would need to join the East Cheshire National Trust Association but do not necessarily belong to the National Trust.

By volunteering with the Association you would be joining with a group of friendly, like-minded people, who enjoy going to talks, and joining in our outings and holidays as well as our walks.

Skills and Qualifications Required:

The Membership Secretary would need to have access to a computer and printer and telephone and be confident in their usage. They should be familiar with and use Microsoft Word and Excel.

Committee members would find it helpful to have access to a computer and printer and telephone and have a knowledge of Microsoft Word.

For all posts access to a car would help them get to Committee meetings, attend lectures and outings etc.

If yes, for what and at what rate?:

Expenses accrued undertaking the roles can be reimbursed. This does not include travel to and from meetings, but would cover costs such as printer paper/ink, and any necessary phone calls. All claims are managed by the Treasurer via our official claims form and on production of acceptable receipts.

What support is available for the volunteer?:

All members of the Committee are friendly and approachable and willing to help a new Committee member settle in. Training therefore, is informal, and would be tailored to the person's specific need for help. It would most likely be on a 1:1 basis.

What training is available for the volunteer?:

As above. There is no formal training, but personal help and advice from other Committee members would be available.
