Perinatal mental health charity, Smile Group, has vacancies for three Trustee roles on its Board as part of its sustainable growth plans

Smile is expanding its Board of Trustees as part of its sustainable growth plan and is looking to recruit three new Trustees, with the following areas of expertise:

- Secretarial/administration skills
- A parent with lived experience
- Business and/or marketing skills

General requirements of the role of Trustees:

Attendance at quarterly Trustee meetings and the AGM, as well as occasional sub-group meetings where required

An understanding of the responsibilities of a Trustee (training is available for those who are new to the role)

Act as an ambassador for Smile Group

An opportunity to give back and contribute to a small but well-established charity with excellent potential for responsible growth

A general understanding or appreciation of the challenges faced by parents experiencing perinatal mental health issues

Volunteer Commitment: Long Term
Is a DBS check required for this role?: No
Skills and Qualifications Required:

Trustee with secretarial skills :

Ensure Trustee meetings are properly administered

Capture and circulate minutes as an accurate record of discussion and actions

Monitor and keep a track of actions – act as the conscience of the Board

Support the preparation of reports to ensure Smile remains compliant

Trustee - Parent with lived experience:

Have a first-hand appreciation of the challenges faced by parents affected by perinatal mental health issues

Be aware of or having engaged with Smile’s support services

Represent the voice of parents in this situation in order to contribute to discussion and service development

Trustee with marketing and/or business experience:

Experience working in the business sector

Sound commercial understanding

Possibly have expertise in marketing (though not essential)

Confident at networking and acting as an ambassador for Smile

Good business contacts
