The Carers Help and Talk (CHAT) Line is our telephone helpline service set up to offer emotional support to carers, 24hours a day. It is manned entirely by volunteers who work from the comfort of their own home.
Provide a listening ear and emotional support to carers calling the helpline. CHAT Line is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Choose a time slot on the helpline rota to make yourself available weekly
Answer calls from carers who are diverted to your phone through a communications system (your number remains anonymous) when you are automatically logged in
Offer emotional and/or peer support to carers
Work within the organisation’s policy on confidentiality and safeguarding
Time Commitment is flexible, from 1 hour a week
Willingness to listen to callers in a non-judgemental way and provide emotional support.
Experience as an unpaid carer is desirable but not essential.
2 x mentoring sessions per year with frequent welfare checks
