The volunteer drives a minibus, provided by a local charity (KCTA), to collect and return clients, who require transport in order to attend the lunches, from and back to their homes. The driver is accompanied usually by an on-board volunteer escort, who provides gentle help to assist the clients on and off the minibus. None of the volunteers are being asked to act as carers.

We register the drivers with KCTA, for insurance purposes, before they commence driving for us.

Skills and Qualifications Required:

The minimum age for driver volunteers is 21 and the maximum 76.

Drivers must have a clean standard driving licence. From age 70 they will be required to have a medical certificate to affirm fitness to drive - the cost of this will be refunded to the volunteer.

The volunteer driver must be physically fit enough to help clients on and off the minibus, if a volunteer escort is not present.

A friendly personality is required.
