Parenting Angels provide practical and emotional support to new young parents or parents in crisis that do not have traditional family support networks
Parenting Angels are a small team of volunteers that provide support to a young parent. The parents we work with all grew up in children's homes and foster care so do not have traditional family support networks.
Angels provide practical and emotional support to new parents or parents in crisis. This could be holding baby whilst mum has a cup of tea or making mum a cup of tea, it could be helping parents to understand the structure and routine they want to introduce into their child's life or just spending time listening to what kind of week the family have had. It could also involve moral support for mum to access a parent group in the community or the confidence to engage with other support offered. We also have parents who would really welcome having a friendly face accompany them to formal meetings. Its really varied and there are spaces for all the types of support mentioned
Young parents lead what support they feel they need so you are seen as a welcome friendly face.
We welcome all sorts of volunteers , you may be an experienced parent, you may have an understanding of attachment or developmental milestones.
