Can you provide a caring welcome to visitors to our Hospice?
You will be the first point of contact for all people visiting or calling the Hospice, and it’s really important to provide a friendly face to those going through a difficult time. In addition to dealing with a variety of visitors, and calls, you’ll take payment for all merchandise in our Reception shop and staff and visitor meals. Occasionally, at peak times of the year volunteers may also be asked to assist with a number of other light tasks to support other areas within the hospice.
Previous reception experience is an advantage, but not essential – we are looking for people who present a friendly and approachable face of the Hospice, no matter what the situation. You will have basic computer skills and an excellent telephone manner - we will provide full training for you to use the till and phone systems. Sometimes reception can be busy, so if you work well under pressure, then we’d be delighted to have you at the Hospice. You should be good at working in a team, and building relationships with other staff and volunteers. Above all, we need someone who is empathetic, reliable, dependable and discreet.
The volunteer will be supported by the Hospice Volunteer team.
The volunteer will receive training before 'flying solo' (or with a partner) on the Reception desk. They will also be required to do information governance and safeguarding training.
