Samaritans is available all the time to everyone. Listening volunteers respond to people in despair or distress including those experiencing suicidal feelings. The service is confidential, we do not judge people, and we do not give advice. We provide human contact and the opportunity for callers to explore options.

What support is available for the volunteer?:
All new volunteers are mentored by an experienced listener. Volunteers are supported by their co-worker and by a 'shift' leader. Also our volunteer care team is available to provide personal and emotional support to all listeners at anytime. We are a close group united by our desire to help callers experiencing tough time. We all look out for each other.
What training is available for the volunteer?:
Comprehensive Samaritans' preparation including skills practice. Observation of the work of experienced listeners. Initially a probationary listener supported by experienced listeners.
