Saturday, July 13th sees Alsager Swans Swimming Therapy Club celebrate its 40th birthday. Formed in 1979,the Swans have met every Sunday evening at Alsager Leisure Centre and in that time have helped hundreds of people through water therapy of the Halliwick method to achieve personal targets.
Our youngest member is 4years old and our eldest is in her mid 80's. We provide 1:1 support to swimmers who may be recovering from an injury,a stroke,or have additional learning needs or suffer from water phobia or who find the average swim session difficult to cope with for a variety of reasons.
We rely on volunteer instructors in order to support our swimmers. Each instructor receives full training and without our instructors there would be no club. Our youngest instructor is 15 and our eldest 65.
The Leisure Centre provides lifeguards and ensures that the water temperature is of a comfortable level to maximise the enjoyment of each session.
To celebrate our 40th ,we are having a party at Lawton Hall Memorial Club for past and present members.
We are a registered charity and as well as swimming sessions,we have other social functions throughout the year for our members of all ages and abilities to enjoy.
So as a volunteer or a swimmer, you will be made very welcome.Just visit our Facebook page or go to our website (www.alsagerswans.co.uk) for more information.
