Salary: £28,672 – £32,234 pro rata

Hours: 25 hours part-time

Location: Crewe with travel across the Cheshire

Contract: Permanent

Travel around Cheshire is essential to this role, so you’ll need a driving licence and your own car.

The role

As an active member of the senior management team, you’ll ensure that financial recording, reporting and forecasting procedures are in place and operating effectively. You’ll also provide sound financial advice to our trustees and the chief executive.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Produce annual financial statements for the charity, and to arrange for their audit, filing and distribution.

  • Assist the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) in production of strategy and fundraising documents and associated forecasts, annual budgets and forecast revisions and other forecasts or analyses of performance as required for both internal and external use.

  • Supervise the maintenance of appropriate accounting records and ensure timely production of management information in a format and frequency directed by their trustees/directors.

  • Assist in development of policies and procedures for My CWA, including, but not limited to, those affecting risk management and financial controls.

  • Ensure that payments and returns to the HMRC are completed as required.

  • Ensure that relevant financial returns are provided to all external bodies (HMRC, Charities Commission, Companies House etc.) in a timely manner.

  • Be responsible for the administration of paying salaries.

  • Attend meetings with the Board and other senior staff as required.

  • Undertake other tasks delegated and required by the company.

  • Model My CWA behaviours and values both internally and externally, acting as an ambassador for the organisation at all times.

  • Contribute to the continuous development of good practice across My CWA and partners, being willing to challenge and raise concerns where appropriate.

  • Keep high quality records and assists with the preparation of reports.

  • Keep up to date with finance legislation and local practice

  • Comply with My CWA’s Diversity & Equality policy in every aspect of your work and positively promote the principles of these amongst colleagues, service users and other members of the community

  • Comply and contribute actively to the required monitoring of outcomes for the service

NOTE: This will involve out of hours responses to emergencies. You must be available to respond when on-call.

The role requires regular travel across and outside of Cheshire, so you’ll need a driving licence, your own car and business insurance.

Person specification

QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION

  • Good standard of education, literacy and numeracy.

  • Evidence of recent learning in a related field (e.g. social care, domestic abuse).

  • CCAB qualified or alternative.

  • Finance background.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Wealth of experience in finance

  • Familiar with Internet banking

  • Working knowledge of QuickBooks

  • Experience of working in culturally diverse communities

  • Knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of statutory and voluntary services and experiences of liaising with them

  • Accounts preparation (statutory & management accounts)

  • Payroll

  • Pensions auto enrolment

  • VAT

  • Gift Aid

SKILLS

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Finance experience (minimum 2 years)

  • Ability to give accurate information

  • Proficient in Quick Books online and basic computer applications, such as word processing, spread sheets, and internet usage

  • Ability to develop plans for the long-term financial goals of their organisation.

  • Record keeping skills organisation and planning skills

  • The ability to communicate with people from a wide range of backgrounds

  • Excellent customer care skills and communications skills to make financial matters accessible to non financial trustees and senior staff.
