Salary: £24,982 to £27,741 pro rata

Hours: Full-time and part-time hours available

Location: Crewe with flexibility across Cheshire

Contract: 12 months initially (extension subject to funding)

Travel around Cheshire is essential to this role, so you’ll need a driving licence, your own car and business insurance.

The role

You’ll provide one to one support to adult perpetrators of domestic abuse with an emphasis on personal accountability and the safety of victims and children. This will include working outside core office hours.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be part of a whole family approach to families affected by complex challenges including domestic abuse.

  • Undertake client assessments of risk and need.

  • Manage a caseload of individuals, addressing perpetrator behaviours and prioritising family safety, assessing need and co-producing individual and family plans alongside family members.

  • Deliver behaviour change sessions on a one to one basis.

  • Support and/or lead behaviour change and other community group programmes.

  • Write reports based on assessment, progress and final reports with recommendations.

  • Represent My CWA at multi-agency meetings.

  • Help clients develop their own support network and utilise a full range of community support.

  • Refer on and facilitate meetings with other agencies/services as necessary (e.g. instance, solicitors, benefit agency, etc.)

  • Undertake safety planning with all clients.

  • Ensure high risk clients are referred to MARAC.

  • Model My CWA behaviours and values both internally and externally, acting as an ambassador for the organisation at all times.

  • Contribute to the continuous development of good practice across My CWA and partners, being willing to challenge and raise concerns where appropriate.

  • Continuously develop professional expertise around domestic abuse in order to offer high quality advice and support to multi-agency colleagues.

  • Help plan creative and innovative responses to families’ needs.

  • Keep high quality records and assists with the preparation of reports.

  • Keep up to date with safeguarding legislation and local practice.

  • Comply with My CWA’s Diversity & Equality policy in every aspect of your work and positively promote the principles of these amongst colleagues, service users and other members of the community.

  • Support clients through the Family Court and criminal justice systems, explaining the procedures and their role and rights within that system.

  • Comply and contribute actively to the required monitoring of outcomes for the service.

  • Participate in weekly duty activities and rota based clinic, out of hours helpline/on call.

NOTE: This will involve out of hours responses to emergencies. You must be available to respond when on-call.

  • Work as a member of the team with other staff by sharing information and expertise.

  • Contribute to the delivery of community programmes.

  • Participate in multi-agency, partnership and collaborative activities.

Person specification

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Good standard of education, literacy and numeracy.

  • Evidence of recent learning in a related field (e.g. social care, domestic abuse).

  • PTLLS or group facilitation qualification would be an advantage.

  • Experience/qualification in delivering and organising programmes.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Understanding of relationship abuse and previous experience working with risk management and customers with complex needs.

  • Experience of managing, leading and motivating a team who work with high risk offenders, perpetrators of domestic abuse or vulnerable people.

  • Understanding of the dynamics of domestic abuse.

  • Awareness of typologies of domestic abuse.

  • Knowledge and experience of direct work with families who have complex needs.

  • Understanding of Safeguarding for children and vulnerable adults.

  • Experience of working in culturally diverse communities.

  • Knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of statutory and voluntary services and experiences of liaising with them.

  • Understanding of safeguarding legislation and issues.

SKILLS

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Strong organisational, report writing and communication skills.

  • Experience of working with people in their homes.

  • Ability to give accurate information and practical support to family members of all ages.
