Women in Volunteering
CVS has received funding from the CCF Tampon Tax Fund to deliver a project aimed at supporting women into volunteering.
Whether looking to start volunteering or progressing to a leadership role - change can be daunting. This is especially so for women who may be returning to a workplace environment after years of childcare, or younger and more vulnerable women looking to build their skills and confidence.
Building skills and confidence is crucial for employability. Many women would like to volunteer to re-enter the job market and so have some recent experience in a workplace environment. Volunteering gives women the opportunity to try something new and gain valuable experience, alongside learning new skills that will increase confidence and the ability to make the next step in their lives.
For many people, volunteering is the start of an amazing journey.
As part of the project we will be:
- Delivering two confidence building courses: ‘Getting ready to volunteer’ and ‘Everything you need to know as a trustee’
- Establishing a women’s empowerment network to celebrate the contribution that women make in communities throughout the voluntary, community and faith sector
Gathering inspirational stories of women in volunteering through video clips and testimonials, particularly women:
- from BAME backgrounds
- building employability skills
- wanting to become trustees
