This free course is essential for community and voluntary groups to understand the requirements of the 2010 Equality Act and the accompanying ‘Public Sector Equality Duty’ (2011).

Looking at the protected characteristics introduced by the Act, and helping you understand ways that you can embed equality into your working practices and celebrate diversity in all that you do.

This training is funded by Cheshire East Lifelong Learning.

Who is it for?

This course is essential for voluntary and community groups. It is important that all organisations, whatever their size, understand Equality & Diversity and implement it into the day to day running of your organisation.

 

Aim of the session:

This course will help you to understand the protected characteristics and develop confidence to address issues of equality and diversity as part of your job or volunteering role. This course can form part of your mandatory training programme for employees.

 

By the end of the session, you should be able to:

  1. describe your duties regarding protected characteristics under the 2010 Equality Act and the 2011 Public Sector Equality Duty;
  2. identify ways to embed equality in your work/ setting; and 
  3. help celebrate people of all diversities and their achievements as part of your role.

The course will be delivered by Lucy Willder, Volunteer Coordinator at CVS Cheshire East.
