This session is aimed at Trustees who would like advanced training on the roles and responsibilities of a trustee of a small group or charity. This is a free session for CVS members and £35 for non-members.

This is a new course to support trustees, directors or management committee members to fully understand  the legal responsibilities and good practice involved in running a community organisation. There will be lots of practical exrcises to help you identify how you relate these issues back to your own boards.

We expect participants to have a basic knowledge about their role and their organisation and so encourage you to watch our short presentations before you attend.

During this advanced course you will have the opportunity to understand the different ways that a trustee can contribute to the organisation and the importance of the role in the governance of the charity. It will cover: Compliance, Duty of Care, Finances, Managing conflict of interest, making meetings work, risk management and sucession planning as well as other essential topics to make your board work most effectively.

Trustees, directors or management committee members who would like in-depth training on their responsibilities within their organisation and to improve their knowledge about what their role means.

Outcomes for Learners:

  • A greater understanding of the legal responsibilities of being a trustee 
  • Information on how trustees contribute to their organisation best
  • Knowledge of policies, procedures and practices that their organisation needs to have in place
  • Confidence in running their organisation effectively
  • Understanding of management strategies and tools
