Every 40 seconds, an older person becomes a victim of fraud. Join us on this training to make sure that you, or someone you care for, isn’t one of them. This session is aimed at older people (aged 50+), family and friends, and people who work or volunteer with older people.

During this course you will learn how to spot, avoid and report scams and fraud. The team will highlight some current scams, nationally and in the local area.

Who is it for?
The course is for people aged 50+ living in the northern and Eastern parts of Cheshire East; their family and friends, and people who work or volunteer with older people in the area – all who want to find out more about the threat of fraud and how to protect themselves and their clients from becoming a victim.

Outcomes for learners:

  • Awareness of how they could be scammed on the doorstep, by phone, and online.
  • Knowledge about different types of scams and frauds.
  • Knowledge of how to reduce the chance of being defrauded.
  • How to report fraud.
  • Increased safety from scams and fraudsters.
  • Lower anxiety about being a victim of fraudsters.

The course will be delivered by members of the Age UK Cheshire East Scams Awareness & Aftercare Team, in partnership with Cheshire East Council Trading Standards.
