This Course will be held in Sandbach (CVS, 11 Hope Street, Sandbach, CW11 1BA).

Looking at the protected characteristics introduced by the Act, and helping you understand ways that you can embed equality into your working practices and celebrate diversity in all that you do.

 

Who is it for?

This course is essential for voluntary and community groups. It is important that all organisations, whatever their size, understand Equality & Diversity and implement it into the day to day running of your organisation.

 

Aim of the session:

This course will help you to understand the protected characteristics and develop confidence to address issues of equality and diversity as part of your job or volunteering role.

 

By the end of the session, you should be able to:

  1. describe your duties regarding protected characteristics under the 2010 Equality Act and the 2011 Public Sector Equality Duty;
  2. identify ways to embed equality in your work/ setting; and 
  3. help celebrate people of all diversities and their achievements as part of your role.

The course will be delivered by a Clare Dodds a Development Officer at CVS Cheshire East. Clare joined the Development Team in April 2017. Clare has worked in various roles in the voluntary sector for 18 years both in an operational and senior management capacity, latterly as Head of Services for Age UK Cheshire. She currently also works as an assessor for Age UK as part of  their Quality Programme.  Before establishing a career in the voluntary sector, Clare practiced as a solicitor in private practice.
