This full-day training course will help support any organisation who wishes to promote well-being in their workplace, ensuring that they are able to support staff, volunteers or service users who are showing symptoms of mental health issues.

Many organisations and businesses are now recognising that mental health issues can have an impact on their organisation. By promoting well-being in their workplaces and realising the benefits of a healthier workforce organisations can have a greater awareness of how to support people involved in their organisation.

This course provides learners with a structured understanding of mental health issues and their symptoms and impacts.

The course will look at:

  • An overview of the common types of mental health problems,
  • Explores qualiative data
  • Identify the 5 steps to mental well-being

Participants should be able to identify service users or work colleagues who are showing symptoms of mental health issues, promoting an approach to prevention and early detection.

The course is priamarily tutor led and content rich, but with some opportunities for discussion. The course material is strongly driven by up to date research, data and theoretical perspective.

Who's it for?

The course is relevant for staff and volunteers in the voluntary sector as well as staff and management in the commercial and public sector as well as HR professionals seaking a greater understanding.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this course learners will:

  • Understand common mental health issues and be better able to identify them
  • Recognise the environmental pressures faced by sufferers of mental health issues
  • Be more comfortable detecting symptoms in others and identifying courses of action
  • Empathise more and be able to be a claming influence and offer practical advice
  • Be better able to manage people who are experiencing distress - distinguishing between the the 'worried well' and those who have enduring diagnosed mental illness
  • Have a useful reference base and understand where to get further information and support
