Our team are excited to announce the launch of our 6th annual Volunteers' Gala Night taking place this year on Thursday, 9th June at Crewe Lyceum Theatre.

A special evening to give organisations a chance to thank and celebrate with their volunteers for all the hard work and commitment given throughout the year.  Starting at 7pm, the Gala will open with welcome drinks and tasty food served from a variety of 'street style' stalls. There will be plenty of opportunities to view a variety of entertainment taking place throughout the evening both on and off the main stage plus you will have a good chance of taking a fantastic prize home with you from our prize draw on the night.

A great celebratory evening for those working and volunteering across our communities of Cheshire East.

Tickets cost £15pp for our member organisations and £25pp for non members.
(including food and welcome drink)

Funding News

Imminent Deadlines:

HRUK Healthy Hearts Grants: Deadline is 30th March 2016.

The Wingate Foundation: Next deadline 6th April 2016.

Latest Funds:

The Anchor Foundation provides grants of between £500 and £10,000 per year to Christian Charities that encourage social inclusion through ministries of healing and the arts.

Funding can be awarded for up to three years. The Foundation will consider applications for either capital or revenue funding. Only in exceptional circumstances will grants be given for building work.
The next application deadline is 31st July 2016.
More information here.

The Paul Hamlyn Foundation Youth Fund has grants of between £10,000 and £60,000 available to not-for-profit organisations that work with vulnerable young people and that have the potential to widen their impact. Projects can be funded for up to two years with the possibility of renewal in some cases.
Applications can be submitted at any time.
More information here.

The Henry Smith' Charity's Holiday Grant for Children Programme is open for applications. Schools, youth groups and not for profit organisations can apply for grants towards holidays or outings within the UK for children aged 13 and under who are from deprived areas or have a disability. This deadline applies for holidays and outings taking place between 1st September - 31st December 2016.

Applications can be considered for holidays or outings that have the objective of providing children with a break they would not otherwise have the opportunity to experience. The maximum grant is usually £2,500 for any one trip.
The closing date for applications is 20th May 2016.

The Bernard Sunley Charitable Foundation supports capital projects only. There is a preference to support projects related to the fabric of a building, rather than small, non-durable items subject to wear and tear, such as furniture, appliances, musical instruments and tablets/laptops.
Applications can be made at anytime.
More information here.

Heritage Lottery Start Up Grants: Grants of £3,000 to £10,000 are available from the Heritage Lottery Fund. The funds can be used to create a new organisation to look after or engage people with heritage, or for existing groups to take on new responsibilities for heritage. Start-up grants can support the early stages of planning an organisation's activities. For organisations not yet formally constituted, the grants can help to adopt the right governance structure.

For organisations further along in their development, a Start-up grant can also help explore options for managing and sustaining their heritage project in the future, or carrying out early scoping work to inform a future application for project funding.
Applications can be submitted at any time and will be assessed within eight weeks.

Did you know?

Her Majesty The Queen celebrates her 90th birthday in 2016. To celebrate this event, Keep Britain Tidy want people throughout the UK to join together and present a gift to her, a gift that will benefit us all.  In the run up to The Queen's birthday, officially celebrated in June 2016, they aim to inspire a million people to take action and enjoy a few hours together litter-picking to make the places where we live more beautiful. For her, and for us all, they want to attack the blight of litter and reclaim our beautiful countryside, our fabulous cities, our world class parks, our wonderful beaches and waterways.

Cheshire East litter picks are being organised in the areas listed here. Please contact Nicola.cooke@cvsce.org.uk if you would like to get involved.

Does your charity have any group/ mass volunteer activities available?

Here at CVS Cheshire East we are committed to encouraging people into volunteering. Our Give 5 campaign is part of that commitment. We have a number of individuals who want the opportunity to give volunteering a chance by becoming involved with organisations without having to make a long-term commitment. The idea behind this is that they can see the benefits of volunteering and hopefully decide to continue for the long-term.

Please contact tina.cartlidge@cvsce.org.uk with any mass voluntary roles you have available and we will link our bank of volunteers with your charity. This could be clean ups, bag packs, stewarding, etc.

CVS Cheshire East Volunteering website – Please log on and check your volunteers!

Our new website enables organisations to advertise volunteer opportunities by creating, editing and closing volunteer opportunities through, your organisations unique log-in. We would like to encourage volunteer managers with current roles to log in and contact their applicants as soon as possible.

If you would like to speak to a member of staff about the new system please call 01270 763100.

Opportunity Hosted by: Timebank Cheshire East

Type of Volunteering Activity: Gardening, Befriending, Construction / Odd Jobs, Support / Care Work

Timebank Cheshire East is a befriending service. It is for people who would like some help with odd jobs, transport to places or simply someone to share a cup of tea and a chat with. It is also for people who would like to give some time to help their neighbours. Basically, it's people helping each other, sharing their time and talents and making new friends. No qualifications are necessary unless you are offering your services as a trades person or professional, in which case you would have to have suitable qualifications and liability insurance. If you are offering to help with DIY, then we will carry out a risk assessment to make sure the right equipment is being used and that it is safe to do so. If you are offering to take people to medical appointments then you will have to fill in a DBS form. This is just to keep everyone safe. Apart from that, you have the opportunity to meet new people on a one to one basis or in group activities and form new friendships. Apply here
