CVS (Community & Voluntary Services) Cheshire East is a Registered Charity whose aim is to be valued as the leading support and development organisation for the Voluntary and Community Sector in Cheshire East.
Our mission is:
- To strengthen our reputation for delivering high quality support to the voluntary & community sector through in-depth knowledge and understanding.
- To build strong, effective relationships with our service users and partners to benefit Cheshire East.
- To enable the voice of the voluntary and community sector to shape and influence local service delivery.
Our History
CVS Cheshire East was formed in January 2010 creating one organisation that supported the Voluntary and Community sector across Cheshire East. It was created from the merger of 3 previous organisations; Crewe & Nantwich Voluntary Action, Congleton District Voluntary Action and Macclesfield & District CVS.
What do we do?
CVS Cheshire East provides a wide range of support and services to groups, helping those that are starting up, as well as organisations that are already established. We are committed to equal opportunities and to making our services relevant and accessible to smaller groups. We are an independent organisation supporting the development of a vibrant, effective and influential voluntary and community sector (VCS) across Cheshire East.
CVS Cheshire East is a registered charity (no.1132927) and a Company Limited by Guarantee (no. 07019841) and has representation from over 2000 local voluntary & community groups. We are a member of the National Association for Voluntary and Community Action and work closely with NAVCA members both locally and nationally.
CVS Cheshire East also supports networks and partnership working and has an intermediary role, supporting and facilitating joint working between voluntary and community groups and with statutory bodies; and helping to ensure that the interests and concerns of the voluntary and community sector are properly represented.
In addition to supporting groups, we also support individuals who wish to become volunteers and those already involved in volunteering.
The Structure of CVS Cheshire East
CVS Cheshire East has a Trustee Board who are volunteers and are accountable for the work and strategic development of the organisation. The Trustees meet on a regular basis and members are elected at the Annual General Meeting.
We have 19 full or part time staff. At present CVS Cheshire East has three accessible offices based at Hope Street, Sandbach, Ashton House in Gatefield Street, Crewe and 81 Park Lane, Macclesfield.
